Sara Reed is Head of the Department for Performing Arts, Coventry University (UK).
Her career has spanned a wide range of contexts including freelance dance artist, performer, choreographer, teacher, college principal and consultant and she has been a participant in the Clore Leadership Programme.
Originally trained at Laban, she has an MA in Performing Arts (Middlesex University) and PhD (University of Surrey).
Through an initial interest in dance medicine and science, she has developed research in the area of somatic practices with a particular interest in the training and education of performers/makers and the development of creative practice. She continues to develop her experience and training in a range of somatic practices applied to artistic, educational and therapeutic contexts. Sara’s research interests include dance and somatic practices, dancers’ education and training, dancers’ health and children’s and young peoples’ performance.
Sara practices Scaravelli yoga and is a Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement teacher.
