Jools Gilson is an Interdisciplinary Artist Scholar. Her writing, performance and visual art work has been produced, performed and exhibited internationally, supported by multiple awards from the Arts Council of Ireland/England and others.
She is also an award-winning radio broadcaster and has made successful documentaries for RTÉ Radio One and BBC Radio 4.
She holds a PhD in Theatre and Performance Studies, and taught performance at the University of Hull and Dartington College of Arts (UK) before joining the School of English at University College Cork, where she is the Associate Director of the MA in Creative Writing.
She publishes in the fields of Feminist Theory, Visual Culture, Gender and Sexuality, Performance Studies, Performative Writing, Somatics and Affect Studies.
