Hilary Kneale is an independent artist who draws on a background in fine art, movement and shamanism as resources to support her work.
She has collaborated with artists of varied backgrounds and disciplines for over twenty years and is interested in and inspired by the creative tension and resulting dialogue that can emerge through collaboration as the meeting place to call the ‘muse’. She relishes "the challenge of the edge and stretch of working in collaboration with other artists" and has worked with a rich mix of cross-art form collaborations both within natural and man-made environments. Some of the collaborations have continued and developed over a period of many years and others have arisen for specific projects with artists, writers, photographers, film-makers, dancers, musicians, potters, poets and environmentalists.
For the last fifteen years she has included herself within her work as she creates and inhabits installations or works in the natural environment through movement, performance and ritual. The written word is also a strong part of her ongoing practice and is combined into her work in multiple ways.
Hilary is an accredited teacher of the 5 Rhythms and a Decoda associate artist.
