AUTHORS: Ali EastAli East (MPHED) is a New Zealand dance artist and educator, recently retired from The University of Otago and currently adjunct Professor at Tezpur University, Assam. In 1980, she founded Origins Dance Theatre creating more than 25 eco-political works. From 1989-1996 she founded New Zealand’s first choreographic BA programme at Unitec, Auckland. She performs regularly with her improvisational collective ‘Shared Agendas’.
Ali has published a number of articles and book chapters. Her book Teaching Dance as if the World Matters: Eco-choreography – A Design for Teaching Dance-making in the 21st Century was published in 2011.
