AUTHORS: Vanessa GrasseVanessa is a dance and multidisciplinary artist from Sicily now based in Leeds, UK.
Her work embraces cross art-form collaboration, improvisation and site-specific performance. More recently, walking and exploring urban environments has formed a base for her movement research and choreographic practice. She has been commissioned to create choreographic, audio and led walks from Dance4, Still Walking Festival, The University of Leeds, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Ludus and Juncture Festivals. She trained as a contemporary dancer in Italy with with Dejadonne Company, MotoMimetico Company and Zappala’ Dance Company, and at IDA (Institute of Dance Art) in Austria. Lately she graduated on the MA Creative Practice at Trinity Laban in London. She continues to research and work with improvisation and contact improvisation practice throughout Europe via international workshops and performances with pioneers like Julyen Hamilton, Lisa Nelson, Katy Duck, Daniel Lepkoff and Kirstie Simson. In 2009 she created Strati Project a dance and music instant composition group, in collaboration with dance artist Caitlin Smith and three musicians, supported by Yorkshire Dance and Interplay Theatre Company.
